Welcome to the Latitude Travel Plan webpage! Latitude is well served by pedestrian and cycle infrastructure, public transport and local amenities. The site is approximately 1.7km north of the centre of Bursledon and 2km south of Hedge End Town Centre.

Cycling and Walking

Monty’s Bike Hub is an exciting social enterprise working with local volunteers and partnering with several other groups and charities. Monty’s bike Hub will be developing a range of cycle-related groups, sessions and activities to improve cycle skills and encourage all ages to cycle!

Bicycle Repair Service- Monty’s regularly run ‘Bike Doctor’ sessions allowing you to get your bike checked over and fixed up for free. They also provide bike workshops where you can learn to fix your bike yourself.

Family Cycle Skills- Monty’s run Cycle Skills sessions on a regular basis for children, youths and adults. These sessions include helping to build cycle confidence (eg. ‘Bike Agility’ and ‘Ditch the Stabilisers’) and also regular led rides. You can arrange lessons for your family, friends or larger groups.

Bicycle Recycling- Monty’s collect unwanted bikes, which they then recycle, repair and retail for reasonable prices within the local community. All of the profits they make support the charity which makes it a great place to donate your old bike or buy a good value second hand one!

Halfords-  Halfords located in Hedge End Trade Park which offers a free bike check to all customers. This is a great way to ensure your bike is safe to ride on the roads and doesn’t cost you a penny.

Cycle Training

Cycle training infrastructure is provided by Southampton City Council at Riverside Park in the form of a Cycle Training Track. This provides a safe place for all ages and abilities to practice riding on the road for free.

Walking and Cycling Routes

Hamble Valley Walks organises guided walks across Hamble Valley and Eastleigh borough. They cost £4.50 per walk with under 16’s able to walk for free. The walks are usually 90 minutes long on Sundays at 2pm and are approximately a 15 minute drive from the site. National Cycle Route 2 provides access to Portsmouth, Southampton and further west to locations such as Bournemouth and Swanage. Cycle Route 23 from Southampton travels to the Isle of Wight to the south and Winchester and Reading to the north. Bus Services

These bus services are frequent on the weekdays and provides a reliable service. There are also regular services on both Saturdays and Sundays of the X4 and number 3 Bluestar routes. This provides individuals with the opportunity to travel sustainably throughout the week. The voucher offered to residents will be available to use on these services to provide residents with a taste of their local bus service routes.

Train Services

Bursledon Railway Station is a 30 minute walk or a 8 minute cycle south of the site location.

Facilities include: Bicycle stands (6), free car park, Ticket machine, step free access to platform 2.

  • Fareham (10 minutes)
  • Southampton Central (25 minutes)
  • Winchester (1 Hour)

Hedge End Railway Station is a 55 minute walk or a 16 minute cycle north of the site location or is accessible via a 20 minute bus journey via the Bluestar 3 service and then onto the 8 at Hedge End Trade Park.

Facilities include: 54-wheel rack cycle storage, 5 lockers and 26 standard cycle parking spaces all covered by CCTV.  96 car parking spaces, 4 accessible spaces, pay phones, waiting rooms,

  • Portsmouth Harbour (40 minutes)
  • London Waterloo (90 minutes)- The route has intermediary stops including Fareham, Eastleigh, Winchester and Basingstoke. Trains run on this route once per hour on weekdays, with a more regular service during peak periods

Using rail services as your chosen mode of transport is a great way of reaching your end destination via a stress and traffic free journey. You would no longer need to worry about parking or paying for petrol. It also provides you with a number of money saving opportunities from the multiple travel cards available for you and your family.

Car Sharing

Car sharing is a simple way of cutting the cost of fuel and parking, reducing congestion and pollution and cutting the stress of driving. My Journey have created a webpage with Liftshare to enable you to register your journey and search to find other drivers who are making the same journey a you, potentially finding a car-share match straight away! Car Club

Join Co-Wheels and pay by the hour for sustainable car use from just £5.50 an hour. If you drive under 5,000 miles per year you could save money by joining Co-Wheels car club.  Co-wheels develops and improves access to more sustainable car use for communities all over the UK, including offering electric vehicles for rent. Your local C-Wheels is located in 3 Eastleigh locations including: Eastleigh Bus Station (Renault Zoe EV), Wells Place (Toyota Yaris Hybrid) and Leigh road (Toyota Yaris Hybrid).

These cars are charged at 15 minute increments however the longer you have them the more discount is applied.

Other types of vehicles including a 7 seater Verso, electric van and hydrogen van are available to hire from other locations of Car-Wheels.

Benefits of using Co-Wheels

  • Petrol costs are included in the hire price and you are provided with a fuel card at the start of your hire and any electric charging costs you may incur across your journey will be covered by Co-Wheels.
  • You will save money on insurance and breakdown cover as this is also included in the hire price meaning you are only paying for your cover for the time you use the hire vehicle.
  • Low level commitment: all you need to do it pay a one off joining fee and have a minimum spend of £5 a month.
  • There is no charge when cancelling your booking if done more than 2 hours in advance of the booking time.

The Average car is only used for 1 hour a day, so why not use a hire car!
