Within Farnham there are a number of amenities located along the High Street, including convenience stores, a post office, pharmacy, public houses, places of worship, eateries and Library.

Local Pedestrian Network

Walking has a number of benefits, including:

Just 30 minutes a day is enough to start improving both your mental and physical health!

The Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the North Downs Way long-distance footpaths also start in Farnham, providing a great leisure walking route.

Farnham & District Ramblers

If you’re looking to get some steps in and meet some new people, why not take a look at the Farnham & District Ramblers? The group hosts regular walks, with at least one walk a week, varying in distances and difficulty – there’s something for everyone!

Local Cycle Network

National Cycle Route 22 is accessed from Farnham Railway Station located circa 2km to the south east of Abbey View. This route runs from Banstead to Portsmouth via Guildford, Petersfield and Havant.

In addition, the Christmas Pie Trail is a leisure route which runs form the northwest edge of Guildford to the east side of Farnham and is approximately 8.5 miles in length.

Travel By Bus

Why take the bus?

  • The walk to and from the bus is a great way to incorporate some physical activity into your daily routine
  • Relax and read a book whilst you travel to your destination
  • Season tickets offer unlimited travel on services and can prove cheaper than running a car
  • Contributing towards cleaner air

Abbey View is well served by a number of bus routes operated by Stagecoach. The closest bus stops to the site can be found along West Street at the ‘Mead Lane’ stops, which are a 6-minute walk from your home. A summary of the routes and timetables is outlined in the table below:

Local on demand bus service

Your local area also now provides an on demand bus service!

An on the demand bus service has launched on the  4th September 2023, funded by Surrey County Council for Farnham & Cranleigh. Fares are charged based on miles travelled, and can be booked online with ww.surreyconnect.org.uk or surrey connect app. Buses run Monday to Friday- 7am to 7pm and Saturdays 8 am to 6pm, with only a minimum of 30 minutes notice required.

Travel By Train

Why take the train?

  • It can be faster than travelling by road.

Farnham Train Station is approximately 2km from your new home, accessible via a 23-minute walk or 9-minute cycle!

Farnham Train Station has direct routes to:

  • London Waterloo – 1 hour journey
  • Guildford – 23 minute journey
  • Alton – 11 minute journey

Farnham Train Station is equipped with 134 cycle storage spaces, 24-hour CCTV, ticket office, customer help points, toilets and a public use telephone.

Car Travel Options

Sustainable Driving

Still need to drive your own car? There are still ways to develop more sustainable habits, why not try some of the below techniques:

  • Avoid breaking and accelerating hard by driving smoothly
  • Limit the use of your air conditioning
  • Check your tyres are fully inflated
  • Stick to the speed limit – speeding often leads to higher fuel consumption

A travel voucher, up to the value of £200 is available once for each address.
You can claim either a Halfords cycle voucher** or a Stagecoach bus ticket**

Each address at Abbey View is eligible to a free £200 Halfords cycle voucher* or 8 x 7 Gold Day Rider South Stagecoach adult bus tickets** (subject to terms and conditions).

*Halford cycle voucher is £200 and only redeemable for purchases associated with cycling.
