What Is In Your Local Area?
The accessibility map below should give you a rough idea about your closest bus stops, shops, local facilities and places of interest. Beyond this, your home is roughly 6km away from Basingstoke town centre which is accessible by an 18-minute cycle or a 35-minute journey using Stagecoach no.14.
Walking
Longfield Place is situated in proximity to a number of Public Rights of Way (PRoW) footpaths. These provide great recreational routes across Sherfield-on-Loddon and beyond. The map below shows where your new home is in relation to these routes.
The historical Sherfield-on-Loddon circular walk is an excellent place to start, which features the 14th century village church, watermill and village green.
Cycling
Cycling with your family is a fantastic way to get out and about, while enjoying some quality time with your loved ones. Get your bikes out, get some fresh air and get exploring the stunning countryside and coast that Hampshire has to offer.
National Cycle Route (NCR) 23 is accessible within a 5-minute cycle of your home, providing a traffic-free cycle route through Chineham. It then provides a route north to Reading and a route south to Southampton, via Alresford, Winchester and Eastleigh. These routes provide a mix of on-road and traffic free cycling, ideal for recreation and commuting by bike.

Local Cycle Shops
There are a number of local cycle shops near your new home. Rusty’s Bike shop offers repairs and servicing from £25, Espokes offer a range of electric bikes and Halfords Basingstoke is located 10km or 14-minute drive away in Basingstoke, just off the Brighton Hill Roundabout.
Bus Services
Your closest bus stops Sherfield Hill and Gaiger Avenue are approximately a 4-5-minute walk from your home, providing access to the Stagecoach 14 service:
- The Stagecoach 14 service is from Basingstoke to Tadley via Chineham, Sherfield-on-Loddon and Bramley, operating every 1-2 hours Monday to Saturday.
A 14-minute walk from your home also provides access to a series of stops on Thornhill Way and the Stagecoach 7, 655 and 657 services:
- The no.7 route operates between Chineham and Basingstoke town centre every 20 minutes to an hour Monday to Sunday.
- The no.657 to Bishop Challoner Catholic School runs twice in the AM and twice in the PM.
- The no.655 operates to Vyne Community School once In the AM and once in the PM.

Rail Services
Basingstoke Railway Station is located approximately 5.3km south-west of your home at Longfield Place; accessible within a 19-minute cycle or a 36-minute journey using the Stagecoach 14.
The Station offers regular direct services to Reading (27 mins), London Waterloo (45 mins), Oxford (50 mins), Portsmouth (1hr 21 mins), Weymouth (2hr 3 mins), Manchester Piccadilly (3hr 35 mins) and many more! With a wide range of direct services available, there are plenty of opportunities for both commuting and leisure travel!
The majority of trains operating from Basingstoke Station are by South Western Railway, but the station also runs trains with Cross-Country and GWR.
There is another Railway station north of your home in Bramley which does not run as many services compared to Basingstoke but it may be another place to consider travel from. Bramley station provides direct services to Reading and Basingstoke.
Network Rail Railcard
Network Rail offers a variety of railcards which provide 1/3 discount on rail travel across 16 counties (inc. London), costing only £20-30 for a year, including the 16-25 Railcard, 26-30 Railcard, Disabled Persons Railcard, Family & Friends Railcard, Senior Railcard and more.

Each household is entitled to a voucher worth £50 for use on buses or towards cycle products at Halfords. Look out for our Travel Surveys over the coming years for details about claiming your voucher.
Car Sharing
