Local Area

Your home is located east of Ixworth Road, approximately 800m north of Ixworth village. Ixworth is provided with a number of key amenities, including a pharmacy, a railway station,  pubs, cafes, schools and several bus stops. Walking

Your home is located nearby to a number of amenities and things to do. Why not get out on foot and explore the local area? Walking provides a number of benefits including:

Local Walks

Fancy getting out and exploring the local area? Your home is located nearby to a number of local walks, including:

  • Old Orchard Walk, approximately 7km long and suitable for all abilities
  • Blackbourn Valley Walk, approximately 10.5km and takes about 3 hours to complete. The route is suitable for all individuals with a moderate level of fitness.

Public Rights of Way Routes

Your home is in the vicinity of several Public Rights of Way (PRoW) routes, which provide a connection to both Thurston Village and neighbouring villages. Cycling

Cycle Routes

Your home is situated nearby to National Cycle Route (NCR) 51, which runs directly through Thurston along Heath Road, Norton Road and Station Hill and is accessible via a 1-minute cycle ride from your home, providing a connection west into Bury St Edmunds and east to Needham Market and Ipswich. Access to NCR 51 from the site is served via a cycleway/footway which extends along the western side of Ixworth Road. An overview of NCR 51 within vicinity of the site is shown below:

Dr Bike Events

Keep an eye out for forthcoming Dr Bike events to be held at St Peter’s Chase. Dr Bike events include a trained bicycle mechanic coming to the development and offering a free bike health check (parts not included). Keep an eye out for our bi-annual newsletters, which provide more information, including dates and times.

Bus

Your Local Bus Services

The nearest bus stops to St. Peter’s Chase are the Community College Rear Entrance bus stops located just a five-minute walk away. The Rylands Close bus stops are also available further south along Ixworth Road, as shown in the map below.

The pair of Community College Rear Entrance bus stops is served by the M40 and 70A service. The M40 service provides a loop from Bury St Edmunds via Thurston and back, running hourly between 07:35 – 10:35 and then every 2 hours until 18:00 Monday to Saturday. The 70A service provides a connection between Bury St Edmunds and Diss via Thurston with running times of 08:16, 09:16 and 15:31, 18:16 Monday to Friday.

Located just a 7-minute walk from your home along Norton Road is the Rylands Close bus stops, serviced by the 162,164,988 and M40, which provide regular services to Elmswell, Walsham Le Willows, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds.

Rail

Your nearest railway station to St. Peter’s Chase is the Thurston Railway Station, located approximately 850m from the site. The station is approximately an 11-minute walk away or a 4-minute cycle south along Ixworth Road via the shared footway/cycleway.

From Thurston Railway Station, Greater Anglia services run hourly eastbound towards Ipswich (31 minutes) and hourly westbound towards Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge (7 and 52 minutes respectively). Connecting services are also available from Ipswich and Cambridge to King’s Lynn, Ely, Peterborough, Norwich, London Liverpool Street and London Kings Cross.

Thurston Railway Station is equipped with a range of facilities to support your journey, including:

  • Pay and display parking area (approx. 15 spaces)

Car Travel

In addition, each residence at St. Peter’s Chase is fitted with an electric charging point, making the transition even easier! There are also charging points located nearby, including the MFG charging station at the A14 services, just an 8-minute drive away.

Car Clubs

St Peters Chase is provided with 2 car club spaces, providing residents who do not own a vehicle access to a car for occasional use. The service is operated by Co-Wheels and reduces the need for residents who only require a car for occasional use to buy one and maintain its upkeep.
