The Solent Way

Walk to School
Your home is in walking distance from a range of primary schools including St James CE Primary School (a 9-minute walk to the north through Emsworth Park), Emsworth Primary School (a 9-minute walk to the south west via footpath 108/71/1 and Washington Road. With the much of these routes being car-free, why not leave the car at home so you and your child can reap the benefits of walking!

Your home is located a 4 minute cycle from National Cycle Route 2, located to the south of your new home as shown below. National Cycle Route 2 runs west to Havant and east to Chichester but is a long distance route that ultimately runs from Dover in Kent to St Austell in Cornwall.

Solent Youth Cycling Club: Solent Pirates is a dedicated youth cycling club on the South Coast, offering coaching and racing opportunities for 6–16‑year‑olds across road, track, cyclocross and mountain biking. Your Local Bus Services
Your home is near to Horndean Road Bus Stops The location of these bus stops can be seen on the local map above.
There are four services a day using bus route 27, from your nearest bus stops at Horndean Road (a 6-minute walk to the east). However, a much more frequent bus service operates from Warblington Road bus stops, which are about a 15 minute walk south of Echo Walk. You can see these bus stops marked on the local map too.
The Coastliner 700 serves these ‘Warblington Road bus stops. The Coastliner 700 service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Mondays – Saturdays this includes a service every 20 minutes during the day between Portsmouth and Chichester. Emsworth Railway Station is only a 7-minute walk (and 2-minute cycle) from your home, and benefits from frequent services to Havant (4 minutes travel time), Chichester (10 minutes), Portsmouth & Southsea (19 minutes), Southampton Central (47 minutes), Brighton (1 hour 1 minute) and London Victoria (1 hour 48 minutes).

Car Travel
Sometimes, we have no choice but to drive. Follow these simple tips to help you save fuel and reduce your emissions!
- Keep your car in good working order, including the tyres.
- Reduce unnecessary weight
- Reduce air resistance
- Keep air conditioning and heating to a minimum
- Brake and accelerate gently
- Plan your trip to drive the shortest route
