Your Local Surroundings

A number of local amenities and facilities are located in Ninfield, with Bexhill providing further amenities and facilities.

Ninfield provides amenities which include: a pub, restaurants, a post office, convenience shops and primary school all under 1km (within a 12-minute walk) from your home.

Bexhill Town Centre is located 6.5km south of Ninfield which is a 24-minute cycle or can be reached via the 95 and 98 bus services (via a 14-25 minute journey). Here, amenities including Bexhill Hospital and Bexhill Train Station, a number of shops, restaurants and a leisure centre can be accessed.

Your new home has a number of footways and Public Rights of Way (PRoW) located nearby. Ninfield circular is a 7 mile walk which starts in Ninfield and heads towards Hooe Common – Pevensey levels – Waller’s Haven and then back towards Boreham Street. Nearby routes to your home are shown below. The map below also shows some of your local public rights of way routes to help you explore Ninfield. If you don’t know where to start with walking, there are also local walking groups which you can join! Walking has a number of benefits including improved mental health and cardiovascular fitness.

East Sussex Health Walks are free one-hour walks run by The Conservation Volunteers. Walks distance and pace depend on the overall needs and abilities of the group. You can also bring you dog along, but they must be kept on the lead. These walks are great for fitness, but also allow you to meet others in your area. Fancy some fresh air for longer? The Rother Ramblers also offer community-led walks in and around your local area, often with an added social stop. Their walks vary in distance (5-15 miles) and mainly cover East Sussex and Kent. These walks are dog friendly and are a great way to get your daily steps in. Local Cycle Network

Cycling brings so many benefits for your social and professional life, health, money savings, and even for your community!

Your home is located near to National Cycle Network Route 2, which can be accessed to the south of your home near Bexhill, which is around an 18-minute cycle. NCN Route 2 is a long-distance route between Dover to St Austell, which in proximity to your home connects to route 21 near Eastbourne which provides a route to London. This is shown in the map below.

Bike Maintenance and Purchase

If you need a bike check or have any questions, your nearest Halfords is located in Bexhill which is a 32-minute cycle from your home. Cycle Tech UK is a mobile bicycle repair specialists called Tom, who works within Bexhill On Sea area of East Sussex, Eastbourne, Hastings, East side of West Sussex and South Kent. Ebike repairs (https://ebikerepairs.co.uk/contact/) is located at 204 Cooden Drive, Bexhill and provides both a service or repair. There is the option to also have you bike collected or you can drop off.

East Sussex CTC provide regular rides on Sunday and Wednesday, with some weeks providing additional rides. There are 4 informal groups which mainly ride on Sunday, with the other only riding on Wednesday known as the Midweek group. The routes usually consist of quiet lanes in East Sussex and further afield. Each group has a designated leader, and tend to take the pace of the slowest rider. Top Tips For Cycling in Colder Months

As it starts to get colder and darker, here are some top tips to make cycling in the autumn and winter months easier:

  • Safety first: Use lights, reflectors and a helmet!
  • Dress appropriately – wear warm and reflective clothing
  • Take it slow- If you’re just starting out, take a short, traffic-free route to boost your confidence on your bike first
  • Service your bike – Keep your bike road worthy with regular checks and services
  • Use a mudguard – Helps keep you clean and dry when cycling in wetter weather
  • Plan ahead – Use Apps like CycleStreets to plan your journey, customising the route to your fitness level and desired level of traffic

Travel by Bus

Don’t forget £3 single bus fare tickets are continuing until March 2027!

Why take the bus?

  • The walk to and from the bus is a great way to incorporate some physical activity into your daily routine
  • Relax and read a book whilst you travel to your destination
  • Season tickets offer unlimited travel on services and can prove cheaper than running a car

Your closest bus stop is on the High Street (A269), called ‘Manchester Road’ which is served by Stagecoach. ‘Manchester Road’ bus stops are around 7 minutes walk from your home.

A service is provided every hour Monday-Saturday and every 2 hours on Sundays providing access to Bexhill, Hailsham and Eastbourne.

Service 95 also operates two every two hours from the King’s Arms bus stops, a 13 minute walk from your home.

Travel by Rail

Battle Railway Station

Battle Railway Station is your closest rail station from your home. It is located 6km from your home, which can be accessed within a 25-minute cycle. You could also take Service 95, which takes 20 minutes from The King’s Arms Bus Stops to Battle Rail Station.

The station is run by Southeastern Railway which provides routes to key destinations including Hastings (16 minutes) and London Charing Cross (1hr 39 minutes). Bexhill Railway Station

You can also take the the train from Bexhill Railway Station. It can be accessed via a 26-minute cycle or by the route 53 or route 95 bus to Bexhill.

It is served by Southern (www.southernrailway.com), with 3 services an hour to Eastbourne (around 20 minutes) and Hastings (around 10 minutes) and has hourly services to Brighton (around 1 hour) and Ashford (around 1 hour).
