Your Local Area

Cranleigh Centre is a 15-minute walk or a 4-minute cycle, located approximately 1km east of your home. The main centre comprises a variety of amenities such as a supermarket, restaurants, post office, dentist, community centre and a pharmacy.

The accessibility map below highlights all of the major amenities and points of interest that can be found close to your home.

A wide range of other amenities and facilities can also be found in Guildford, which is a 45-minute cycle/ 35-minute bus away from Friary bus station (more information on bus services nearby provided in the Travel by bus section below). In Guildford, you can find more amenities and places to explore on your weekends.

Local Walking Routes

Walking is great for commuting and leisure. Explore your local walking routes:

oThe Richard Onslow Cranleigh Trail- Beginning at The Richard Onslow in Cranleigh, the moderately challenging route can be accessed via a 24-minute walk or 6-minute cycle.

oCranleigh and Rowly Circular – beginning near to The White Hart Hotel pub, the route can be accessed via a 32-minute walk or 8-minute cycle.

oCranleigh to Pitch Hill – can be accessed via a 42-minute walk or 11-minute cycle, or a 9-minute bus journey via the 42 bus service from Elm Park bus stop. A scenic route through grounds and woods.

Local Walking Groups

Why not join the Godalming & Haslemere Ramblers! One of hundreds of Ramblers Groups, Rambler’s aim is to enable all to take up walking and remove barriers and preserve the  paths and countryside we have. Better Points App

BetterPoints smartphone app can be utilised by anyone over the aged of 14 in Surrey. The app provide rewards for traveling by sustainable modes of travel including walking, cycling and public transport.

The Downs Link (NCR 223) can be accessed from the north of Cranleigh Grange and provides a walking and cycling link to numerous destinations in the surrounding area including Christ’s Hospital, Slinfold, West Grinstead and many more.

Travel By Bus

Alford Road bus stop is your closest stop located on Elmbridge Road (2-minute walk) this stop has a number of services running from it, and operates in both northbound and southbound directions. The services from Alford Road bus stop are run by Compass Travel (https://www.compass-travel.co.uk/compass-timetables/bus-timetables/) , and include the 24 and 42 services. Full up to date timetables can be found on their websites.

£3 Bus Fares

Great News! The Department for Transport’s bus fare cap scheme has been extended! However, the fare has increased from £2. A single adult fare will now cost up to £3* (*subject to change) during the bus fare scheme.

Surrey Connect

Your local area also now provides a on demand bus service! Funded by Surrey County Council for Farnham & Cranleigh. Fares are charged based on miles travelled, and can be booked online at www.surreyconnect.org.uk.

Buses run Monday to Friday- 7am to 7pm and Saturdays 8 am to 6pm, with only a minimum of 30 minutes notice required.

Travel By Rail

Shalford Railway Station is located c.11km from your home and is accessible via a 29-minute cycle or a 18-minute bus journey and 5-minute walk via Compass Travel 24 bus service.

Shalford Railway Station offers rail services to Reading (50 minutes) and Gatwick Airport (43 minutes). For detailed and up to date train journey information for Shalford Station visit at https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/shalford-surrey/.

Guildford Railway Station is also located c.14km from your home and is easily accessible via a the Stagecoach bus services 24, 53 and 63 from ‘Crossroads’ Bus Stop on Guildford Road. Bus journeys to Guilford Railway Station take approximately 25 – 30 minutes with a subsequent 10-minute walk from Friary bus station.

Guilford Railway Station provides more comprehensive travel options to a larger number of locations including Reading (45 minutes), Portsmouth Harbour (around 1 hour 15 minutes) and London Waterloo (33 minutes). For more information, visit https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/guildford/

The bus is the most sustainable way to access these railway stations, while also avoiding the stress of traffic, finding a secure place to park and expensive petrol and parking fees.

  • Limit the use of your air conditioning
